Our Philisophy

St James Kidsway is committed to providing care and education for children from two years of age till school age. We believe in the relationship of Tuakana Teina, where children are able to learn from older and younger children.

Our Christian faith is the core belief that underpins our professional teaching practice for the positive outcomes for our children, who then become competent learners able to make a valued contribution to society. The Christian nature of St James Kidsway encompasses an open, caring and respectful relationships.

We acknowledge the expectations and aspirations of the parents and whanau for their children and will work alongside them. We encourage partnership with whanau and encourage them to be involved in the children’s learning journey as well as the centre community.

Teachers embrace the teachable moments. Learning will be fun and exciting. Our curriculum is child-centered and extends on interest and events that take place in the family, community and the wider world. We believe in shared kai times where children are able to gather with friends and kaiako to learn, eat and share stories.

Teachers are carefully chosen, each has special attributes that are needed to nurture and care for children. All teacher’s model love, trust, empathy, peacefulness and respect that makes St James Kidsway a place for children to grow.
